Great Pizzelle Iron
I was not happy with the first batch of Pizzelles I made. They were sticking (even though this was teflon coated) and I had a real mess. I was ready to send it back, but I talked with my niece who has the regular, non-coated iron. She said she puts her batter spoons in a cup half filled with vegetable oil between each reload. I use a small, spring loaded mellon baller to put the batter onto the griddles. I filled a coffee mug halfway with the oil, placed the mellon baller in it between each reload, and nothing stuck. The pizzelles are done in half the time as my other pizzelle iron, are the perfect thickness, and I will not be sending it back.
A well-received gift!
We purchased this pizzelle iron for our relatives who bake pizzelles at least once a week. Their old pizzelle iron had worn out from overuse, and this made a great gift. They love their new pizzelle iron and the new "cookies" have turned out delicious! Based upon their comments of use, I gave this product 5 stars.
I make Pizzelle often now!
I have truly enjoyed this Pizzelle Baker. It does have to be sprayed with a non-stick spray for my recipes. If sprayed, I've found that I can simply use a toothpick to get the pizzelle loosened in one spot, then remove it very easily. I've made both savory and sweet pizzelle. I even used boxed sugar-free cake batter, added some spices, and it worked great for quick pizzelle.
