This fan Really BLOWS!
After opening the suprisingly HUGE box I was surprised to find an exceptionally well made fan of rather intimidating power. On low it will clear a room of all particulate matter, flying insects, small animals must lean into the airflow. On medium you can no longer have a conversation, the cat is now under the bed cowering in terror. On high The Donalds hair would wave a white flag, the jetstream moves north and all the lights in the city flicker. It's not quite what I had in mind but it was a gift from my itty-bitty girlfriend who is still among the missing trapped in the rubble of my living room......
Seriously, it's a very nice fan and it WORKS!
Solidly built, POOR packaging
Powerful, solidly built fan. Heavy metal construction throughout, large heavy base. Classic look. The only thing you will have to worry about with this fan is how long the motor will last, as everything else is "industrial". TWO ISSUES: The packaging is extremely poor. The fan comes in separate pieces in a thin cardboard box. The inner packaging is not sufficient (loose plastic wrap/cardboard inserts), everything is LOOSE and it allows the heavy metal parts to move and come in contact with each other inside the box during shipping. This causes scratches and dents on the finish. My base sustained a 1" dent which also scratched the dark finish exposing the silver metal under the finish. The inner arms that hold the fan housing also had multiple surface scratches. I see one design flaw for those of you with young kids. Besides the metal housing which WILL allow little fingers towards the metal blades.... the stand design is poor. To raise and lower the fan head, you pull up...
Terrific Air Circulator
I have been a longtime fan of Patton Air Circulators but have been disappointed in the build and QC of their latest offerings. So, I decided to give this Air King a shot. I could not be happier. We only go beyond level 1 when coming into a closed house on a hot day to clear the hot air out in a hurry. Level one moves air better than most fans at their highest settings. Place this bad boy next to a window and suck the cool air from outside and circulate indoors. Perfect. We are relatively close to the beach (and subsequently have no AC), but have a few weeks a year that are intolerably hot -- the Air King is the perfect solution.
I agree with other reviews regarding the less than perfect packing material, but ours arrived in 100% perfect condition, nonetheless. Assembly was a snap. The base could be smaller, but I do appreciated the stability.
If you want a seriously bad-ass air circulator at a reasonable price-point the Air King is just the ticket. High...
