Pretty good fan!
I was kinda skeptical about the Lakewood and Lasko fan reviews and decided to try this fan. It indeed has great airflow even the small desk fan that comes with it. On speed 1 of 3 you hardly notice its on but has great airflow - I can feel a slow steady breeze about 15 feet away - perfect for keeping near the foot of the bed. speed 3 of 3 and i can feel the air bouncing off the walls and any angled surface in my bedroom, in a large room id imagine you could feel it a good 35-40 feet away pretty easily.
Even on its highest speed yes it becomes a little noisy but what fan doesn't? It kind of reminds me of someone using a hairdryer in the bathroom with the door closed kinda motor whirling sound or a laptop cooling fan on high.
My only complaints is it seems a tad wobbly to me but I haven't owned any other tall tower fans before. Its base diameter is about a foot which is attached (by the buyer) with 4 phillips screws - not hard at all...

Not bad. Too pricey
This is not a bad fan. I bought it as a gift for my Grandmother and she is pleased with it. I would not buy one for myself at this price. $40 and I'd consider it. Although I don't need to save any space so I'd go with a floor fan or even a $15 box fan.
The fan(s) aren't too loud and have a good oscillation range. They move more air than your cheap-o box fan and in a more focused area. Kind of wobbly would be the only minus I would give this item, price aside.
Worked great for 2 years... then Bang
My dad picked up this unit at Costco in 2011 and gave it to me when I moved to a new apartment. The little unit works great although it is a bit noisy for a fan. The big unit was a life-saver and worked very nicely for the summers of '11 and '12. This summer it must have thrown something (similar to another review here) because it will intermittently rattle like one of the fan blades is hitting the inside of the unit. A quick thump on the top will fix it for another 15 minutes but it is no longer usable in a bedroom at night.
Having never used a tall fan before, I have to say I am a convert. The breeze is cool and the oscillator works both on a side to side but also an up-to-down oscillator which makes for a varying rhythm and is pleasant. It easily cooled our 10x12 foot bedroom on all but the hottest of our summer nights (that said -- we live in the relatively cool Pacific NW).
Given that there is another review that had a similar experience with a "blown...
