KRUPS XP1020 Steam Espresso Machine with 4-Cup Glass Carafe, Black

This is not a bad machine
Do not understand why this item has so many bad reviews. It is not a bad machine!

My last expresso machine was also a Krups steam powered. Lasted for 13 years until it fell apart last week (the prssure valve inside broke). For my replacement machine, I was looking at fully automatic ones (Magnifica, $900), pump based (like cuisineart em-200, $200), and steam powered (like this item, $50). After reading all the review and knowing how pump based machine works, I decided not to go for them. The main reasons are they require a lot of maintenance and they can break down easily. I just do not want high pressure stuff in my house. If it breaks down, it may take a month or two to fix it. After warranty is over, it is more expensive to fix than buying a new one. I basically want a reliable espresso machine which can last 10 years with very little mainenance.

I typically makes a few shots in the morning as soon as I get up. I just do not see how pump based or full...

Works great; may need periodic scale removal
I've had one of these machines for several years and I just ordered another one for our vacation home. The beverage it produces is just as good as any. I use decent beans (Starbucks or comparable) and normal espressso grind. I rarely drink latte or cap, since I prefer full coffee flavor, but on the occasions I have, this machine has done a fine job. I agree with another reviewer that the plastic tube on the steam outlet isn't really necessary.

UPDATE:
I've had a chance to use the new machine a few times. Observations:
--At least one user reported odd chemical or plastic odor when using. I have not observed this.
--Someone expressed dissatisfaction with the need to steam the milk before making the coffee. This is NOT necessary. The instructions do recommend steaming the milk first, but this is only to avoid the frustration of using almost all the water/steam pressure when making the coffee, only to find that there isn't enough left...

Best money I've spent on coffee.....
Granted, I worked at a starbucks for a little while after high school so I kind of knew the work that it could take to steam a pitcher of milk and pull a shot of espresso.
For the price, I think this is a great starter if you're strapped for cash or want to dabble with espresso & latte preparation. I've had mine for 2 years now. It's the first one I ever bought. I've had to replace the coffee grind holder/handle once (for about $13), but other than that, i've had no problems. read the directions, they are great. they inform you that pressure builds within the machine and if you do not properly release the pressure upon completion, then yes, it will explode the grinds all over you. duh.
it's pretty easy to clean and maintain. I bought a brush to clean the steaming wand.
It does not come with a frothing pitcher or a beverage thermometer (which i recommend) but they are both pretty inxpensive. I ordered one of each when i ordered my machine.
regarding timing, i...

Breadman (Applica) Horizontal Breadmaker 2lbs AP4 TR520

Excellent with major flaw
Our 20 year old Rival finally gave out and this our replacement. After over 2 dozen loafs, this machine makes excellent bread including the family sourdough. Only one complaint is the control panel; hence only four stars. Very poor human factors putting white words on a yellow backgroud. Very difficult to read and the fool that designed the panel should be flogged. Manual is complete and very informative for the new breadmaker.

first breadmaker
I made this purchase based reviews I read here, and an online site called "breadmachine digest". THEY recommend that you buy any affordable machine and JUST START baking because how would you know what you want or need in a bread machine if you've never used one? That was just the push I needed and I was able to get this machine for under $60.00.
I am an experienced home cook (a mom with grown kids) and former restaurant co-owner (gourmet pizza). I have made bread products by hand and with a vertical cutter/blending machine. BUT now I don't have to cook for anyone and I live in an efficiency apartment with no counters. I love GOOD bread and was spending $4 - $5 a loaf, so THAT is how I justified this purchase!
The amount of reading involved before my first loaf was a little discouraging and I see why these things get put away (or given away) when presented to someone else as a gift ... LOL! It helped that "breadmachine digest" suggested baking a purchased "breadmachine mix"...

No flour on your shoes with the Breadman
The smartest thing I've ever done related to making bread is to purchase the Breadman TR520. Follow the instructions!! A must! I use the Breadman to make my bread from the very beginning. I create the dough, which takes 1:20, then form it into the proper loaf, let it rise again, then bake it in my oven. This machine kneads the finest dough that you can imagine. Pizza dough is "killer", trust me. You will be very happy with with the results from this beauty!!

Frigidaire FRA124HT1 12,000 BTU Through-the-Wall Room Air Conditioner (115 volts)

Excellent Air Conditioner
I used this unit to replace a ten year old Friedrich in-wall air conditioner, which incidentally never cooled as it should from its first day. The Friedrich's dimensions were much larger than this one, and the sleeve that was installed was its actual casing. Removing this sleeve and trying to put in a new smaller sleeve was not really an option because of the work involved in trying to fill the space in the wall (especially the exterior siding) caused by the difference in size. I needed to fill the space within the old sleeve so the new unit would fit snugly. This was a tough task, but I can't blame Frigidaire for that. They provided fill and instructions for nine or ten different brands of in-wall sleeves. Unfortunately, this particular sleeve was not a match to any of those described. I was very happy to find that there were plenty of different pieces of foam and other fill provided that could be cut to fit my area. The unique layout of the Friedrich sleeve/casing still...

Bent fins
I had a similar problem with bent fins and inferior packaging - which is important because the design of the unit requires full airflow to function as designed. I took time to re-bend the grill and fins, but this is an issue. Hopefully the second unit I bought for a backup (these are for an apartment building) doesn't have a similar problem.

So far, so good..
Air Conditioner has been been running almost 24/7 lately, on the energy saver mode. Along with a fan, for circulation, keeps my 650 sq. ft. apartment quite comfortable. The only complaint I have is lack of a thermostat, so it would run all the time on any other mode.

GE Cooktop Burner Ignitor WB13T10010 Replaces WB13K10006

Great part!
So glad to have my burner working correctly...without the need for a lighter. Part was easy to install for the diy person.

The easiest appliance fix ever!
The front right burner wouldn't light itself any longer. I could visually see that there was no spark being generated. I watched a youtube video detailing replacing the part and decided to try to fix it myself without calling a repair person. I ordered the part, it arrived and it took less than a minute to replace. It was so easy that I thought it was not going to work but it did and does flawlessly since.

Good Times Xpress Redi Set Go **WITH 4 BONUS PANS**

Excellent, but...
I purchased one of these units. The idea is great, and the heat in the kitchen and power consumption is greatly reduced for those small meals.

You have to be aware of 2 issues:

1) The unit gets really hot. The INSIDE gets close to 400F, the OUTSIDE can be as high as 200F. In other words, do not touch the outside! And be sure to place on a mat or something if you have counters that might be damaged by the heat that radiates from the unit. I wish they would have insulated the outside better.

2) Clean Up. The other removal pans are great and easy to clean because they can be removed and put in the sink. BUT the pan in the unit does not come out. I saw two problems:

-- the coating degrades and it gets hard to clean (not the just wipe out and it's clean. Things start to stick and it becomes a real chore to clean.) But the unit cannot be submerged in water.

-- When you do need to clean with a brush and use soapy water, you...

Disappointing quality
I have used this much anticipated machine only twice and I have been disappointed both times. I made the little egg puffs with a smoked sausage in the center. They were cute and tasted wonderful, but as you can only make 4 in the heart-shaped pan at a time, multiple uses were required to feed 4 adults. No matter how well I sprayed the insert, I had to WASH it after EACH batch because they stuck so badly.

The second time I used it was worse. I made the chicken condon-bleu as per the recipe in the accompanying book, and it was a disaster. The machine has no heat control, gets very hot, and the chicken burned on the outside and stuck on BOTH sides within 3 minutes... and YES, I sprayed beforehand. I spent the next 20 minutes alternately turning the unit on and off to try to cook the inside without further burning the outside. To make matters worse, there isn't a full-size insert, so washing required attempting to remove the burnt remains from the unit itself (which is what I...

listing is not what you get
Ordered this and got the typical 2 pans as you can get in the store. Sent it back as product is not as listed. You do not get 4 pans.
